Admission Procedure

Once your date for surgery is agreed, you will receive confirmation about what time you need to arrive and what items you will need during your stay. You will also be informed if you need to fast prior to your surgery.

At the Hospital

When you arrive at the Hospital, please report to the main reception desk and a member of staff will direct you to the ward, where a nurse will take you to your room to settle in. A patient Information folder is provided in all the rooms which should help provide answers to any questions you may have about your stay. Alternatively, a member of our nursing staff will be happy to answer any questions you may have.

Once you have settled in, a nurse will check your personal details and undertake a formal admission process where your individual plan of care will be formulated.

Before your operation, patients will be visited by the Consultant surgeon and the anaesthetist to ensure you have a complete understanding of the planned procedure and to alleviate any anxieties you may have.
